The President of the Nigerian Baptist Convention, Rev. Israel Akanji, has called for a multidisciplinary approach to security, advocating for private-sector involvement alongside government efforts.

Akanji made this statement in Abuja on Saturday during the 10th anniversary celebration organised by the FCT Conference of the Nigerian Baptist Convention, with the theme “Celebrating God Who Answers Prayers.”

Reflecting on Nigeria’s challenges, Akanji emphasised that security should be addressed with a collaborative approach, involving various stakeholders in tackling the issue.

He urged President Bola Tinubu to prioritise addressing hunger, inequality, and education subsidies to alleviate the burdens of Nigerians.

He also stressed the potential of agriculture and called for policies that would protect farmers and promote food security.

“The issue of insecurity should not be left for the government to handle alone.

“The FCT administration has always included several stakeholders in addressing security, and the Church has been part of this effort,” he said.

Akanji highlighted the importance of collaboration, noting that the involvement of religious leaders and organisations had contributed to the success in securing the FCT.

Akanji also lauded the FCT Baptist Conference for its significant influence and visibility, attributing its success to its strategic location in the Federal Capital Territory.

He commended Tinubu for his leadership and urged further inclusivity and collaboration for national development.

Rev. Thomas Takpatore, Chairman of the FCT Baptist Conference, emphasised the transformative power of prayer, urging Nigerians to unite in prayer for the nation.

Quoting James 5:16, he reminded believers of the power of fervent prayer and called for collective action for divine intervention in Nigeria’s challenges.

Rev. Kenyinde Okosanya, Chairman of the Men’s Missionary Union (MMU), reminded men of the importance of prayer in spiritual vigilance.

He encouraged members to stay alert and resilient through prayer.

Rev. Dogara Gwana, President of the FCT Baptist Conference, expressed gratitude for the conference’s success and emphasised the church’s role in promoting patriotism and godliness in Nigeria.

He urged Christians to reject corruption and uphold Christian values in public life.

The conference, which aimed to inspire hope and action for a brighter Nigeria, featured prominent faith leaders who prayed for Nigeria and its leaders.(NAN)
