Minister of Defence, retired Gen. Christopher Musa, has been honoured with the traditional title of Akinjagunla of Iyamoye Kingdom for his service to the nation and support for community development.

The honour was conferred on the minister during the 2026 Iyamoye Day celebration in Kogi State, where he also called for peace, unity and collective action as foundations for sustainable development.

Speaking as Special Guest of Honour at the event, themed “Mobilising Our Collective Strength for Growth, Progress and a Prosperous Future,” Musa urged communities across the country to work together with government institutions and traditional authorities to build a prosperous society.

He said no community could achieve meaningful development without peace and mutual understanding.

The minister also identified youth empowerment as critical to national growth, stressing the need to create opportunities for young people to acquire relevant skills, become productive and contribute to society.

Musa commended the Iyamoye Development Union, traditional rulers and residents for sustaining the annual cultural celebration, while applauding community-driven investments in education, skills acquisition and infrastructure.

He further urged indigenes of Iyamoye, at home and in the diaspora, to uphold the community’s motto, ‘In Oneness We Stand,’ maintain harmony and support traditional institutions.

Expressing gratitude for the chieftaincy title, the Defence Minister reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to promoting peace across the country, noting that a secure environment was essential for local economies and cultural heritage to flourish.
