The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has urged Nigerians across the country , especially people of Imo State not to surrender their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) to anybody.
PDP in a statement by its National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba in Abuja urged Nigerians to resist attempt to make them surrender their PVCs to anybody, no matter the pressure or inducement.
Ologunagba urged voters not to allow anybody have access to their voting card under any guise whatsoever.
Ologunagba said the advice was necessary following alleged plots to compromise the Saturday’s Presidential and National Assembly elections in Imo State.
He said alleged there were plot to induce unsuspecting members of the public to surrender their PVCs to party agents with false promise of cash payment.
“Nigerians must also note that the PVCs contain very important personal biometric information.
“Allowing APC agents access to the PVCs is likely to open their information to criminals who could use such to manipulate and devastate the financial and social lives of unsuspecting Nigerians,” he said.
Ologunagba said PDP had been informed of how a Minister has relocated to Imo State, is conniving with the ruling party leaders in the State to manipulate information contained in the PCVs.
He said that plot was to compromise the integrity of INEC systems (Bimodal Voter Accreditation System and Server) with the view of rigging elections in the State in favour of the APC.
“ Imo State is a stronghold of the PDP; the people are behind our presidential and national assembly candidates and any attempt to rob them of their votes will be firmly resisted.”
Ologunagba called on INEC and the Police to take urgent action against the schemes in Imo State as the people will surely not accept any electoral outcome that did not reflect their Will and aspiration.(NAN)
