2023- Ayu tasks PDP former spokespersons on robust communications strategies to regain power
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has tasked the party former spokespersons and other stakeholders on communications strategies on the party’s achievements and plans for Nigerians towards winning 2023 general elections.
Ayu made that call at the Interactive meeting of the party National Working Committee (NWC) and former national publicity secretaries, State and zonal publicity secretaries and other key stakeholders.
Ayu said that the recent elections in FCT, Ekiti and Osun States were clear reality that PDP remained a preferred party that the Nigerians want to take over power 2023.
“We need to work harder to tell Nigerians the truth. We need to convey to Nigerians the failure of the ruling party and what the PDP will do for them as realistically as possible.
“People don’t vote for you for what you did for them in the past alone. They don’t they vote for you if they’re convinced that when you come in their quality of life will improve.
“We are not here to lecture you. We are here to listen to you and to get you to craft the necessary strategies for us to convey the best message that will make us win the next election.
“Our victory in Osun State shows clearly that we are on the way to victory.We are definitely going to win the next election.
“We will increase the number of governors, we will control the National Assembly, House of Representatives, most state Houses Of Assembly and of course the big price, we shall return to the villa,” Ayu said.
The national chairman said that the PDP publicity management was formed on the realities of the party’s performance and the realities of what it want to do for the Nigerian people.
“We do not want to claim victories that will have not earn. I think that it is important that we maintain this relationship with the Nigerian people. They should trust us.
“The English man says actions speak louder than words.
“As long as we continue to do the right things the Nigerian people will believe us and they will definitely give us their mandate.
“We have already demonstrated this in the last six to eight months since we took over as the NWC of the party. We try to convince Nigeria people of the realities that they find themselves,” Ayu said.
In his remarks, the party National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, said that the meeting was called for in order to tap in to the experience of the former spokespersons of the party as institutional memories to be of great benefits to the party and the nation..
Ologunagba said that the party intend to have the conversation on a regular basis to create communications and publicity structures and strategies for the party and the nation, that could be consulted any time.
He said that the party under the leadership of Ayu was determine to engage in the liars with the facts and get Nigerians informed on the realities.
“There will be a conscious communication of what we are as a party and as a people and what we offer Nigerians and that has been the trajectory we have continued on.
“And the message of confronting the liars with the facts are becoming more and more grounded in the minds of Nigerians.
“PDP is again now being looked upon as the only hope of the Nigerian people. So this is the trajectory.
“We will continue on that trajectory as we proceed on this mission to ensure that the message that we set out to our people and to the whole world is such that is consistent with who we are as the party of the people and it reflected in our name as Peoples Democratic Party.
“ A party that is democratic in every nature, that have structures, that have principles, that have organs that are working well in any situation such that at the end, the Nigeria people will be the beneficiary of what we do in this regard.”
Ologunagba said that a lot of programs would be set up, some of which would be unveiling very soon.
“We are looking forward to a robust conversation and discussion and at the end of the day, we will have suggestions that would help our party in our communications, activities and of course, we can now sell ourselves to Nigerians.”
He said that going forward the party would continue to engage with Nigerians that the party was ready and set to regain power in 2023.
