The Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB) has described as misleading a purported publication that says, “CCB Headquarters is not funding its State Offices nationwide.”
Mrs Veronica Kato, CCB’s spokesperson, in a statement on Thursday, said that funds were normally disbursed to State Offices whenever allocations are received from the Federal Government.
According to her, due to the present economic realities in the world today, Nigeria is not exempted, and it is unkind and mischievous to accuse the headquarters of the Bureau of starving State offices.
“It is, therefore, not true to say or give the impression that the CCB Headquarters is not funding its State Offices.
“The fact is that the CCB State Offices are important components of its operations, and has not in any way been neglected in the allocation of funds from the Federal Government.
“It may interest the general public to know that CCB State Offices are usually considered and allocated funds over and above Departments in the Headquarters.
“It is also necessary to state that CCB State Offices are usually given priority in fund allocation because of their peculiar needs,” she said.
Kato further explained that CCB, as one of the Federal Government’s MDAs, gets its funds for its activities like others, adding that it shares the same constraints that affect other MDAs.
She, however urged the general public not to take the publication which was meant to embarrass CCB serious, adding that the Bureau has all the resources it needed for its operations but does not care about its Offices in the States. NAN
