The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) chapter of Bayero University, Kano Alumni Association (BUKAA) has urged all stakeholders to synergise and make quality education available to Nigerians
The Chairman of the chapter, Mr Alhassan Muhammed, made the call in Abuja on the sideline of novelty football and volleyball matches organised to reunite members of the chapter.
According to Muhammed, education is key to everything, and there will always be a need for researchers and people who will think out of the box and bring ideas on how to move the country forward.
“When we were in school, I think I was paying 2000 Naira for my hostel accommodation and even the school fees at that time was very low.
“I know the situation has changed, but I will like to see a situation where the sons and daughters of nobody have access to quality education like some of us enjoyed it in the past.
“My call to government and all Nigerians is that we can not grow as a nation if we do not give attention to education. We should come on together and see how we can revive our education as a country,” he said.
The chairman said that the aim of the novelty matches was to bring members together, network, and brainstorm on how to support their alma mater.
He said that it was an avenue to connect with old friends and make new ones with the view to support one another through life’s journey.
Mohammed urged all BUK alumni in the FCT to turn out en mass for the forthcoming congress of the chapter, which will hold on Nov. 30.
“The BUK is a family. We met ourselves and came together in school. We did not know ourselves before we joined Bayero University, Kano.
“So we can come together, join hands, and support each other. There is no harm in lifting one another. All hands are not equal.
“We can come as alumni and see how we can support our members, how we can support our university, and also see how we can push and support people that are in businesses,” he said.
