The All Progressives Congress (APC) Consolidation Group has appealed to the party’s national leadership not to reward disloyalty or allow the party become shelter for political opportunists rejected by their original parties.

Mallam Idris Jibril, Spokesperson of the group made the appeal on Monday in Abuja while speaking with newsmen after submitting a petition to the party’s national leadership.

He explained that the petition was borne out of concern over the infiltration of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) APC by members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

This, he said, was especially by individuals who neither reflected the party’s values nor met its
constitutional requirements for nomination.

He noted that in spite of not meeting the requirements for nomination, such individuals were being positioned as candidates in a brazen attempt to hijack the party’s internal processes.

“The APC must be seen to stand
on the pillars of integrity, discipline, and fairness, especially at a time when President Bola Tinubu is championing renewed hope and national rebirth.

“This is a moment to defend our structures and safeguard our future,” the group’s spokesman said.

He said the immediate action of APC’s leadership on the development, would avert looming crisis and preserve the legacy of progressives in the FCT, and potential breakdown of law and order in Kuje and Bwari Area Councils.

Idris added that it was also critical to prevent mass protest and withdrawal by aggrieved, loyal APC aspirants and supporters.

“The action of the APC leadership is also critical to avoid reputational damage to the APC ahead of the 2026 Area Council Elections and the 2027 General Elections

“The party cannot afford to reward betrayal and alienate its true base in the name of desperate electoral calculations,” he stressed.

Idris said the orchestrated plan by a political stalwart and his network of PDP loyalists poses a serious threat to the stability and peace of the APC in the FCT.

He, therefore, asked for the immediate disqualification of Mr Danjuma Shekwolo and Mr Christopher Maikalangu from contesting on APC’S  platform in the forthcoming Area Council elections in line with Article 20.1(iii) of its Constitution.

He also appealed to the party’s leadership to disassociate itself from members who were known PDP figures, saying such persons must not be allowed to meddle in APC’s affairs through proxy candidates.

He asked for a formal investigation by the APC National Working Committee (NWC) into the growing complaints of imposition and infiltration within the FCT APC.
