No amount of attacks on coalition leaders will stem the tide -ADC

By Emmanuel Oloniruha

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) says no amount of tirade against the leaders of the coalition could stem the tide of the popular movement.

Malam Bolaji Abdullahi, the Spokesman of the Coalition Movement, stated this in a statement on Thursday in Abuja, while reacting to comments by the Minister of Federal Capital Territory, Chief Nyesom Wike in his media chat.

Abdullahi said that it was too late to cry in the day, saying the coalition movement belongs to the Nigerians.

He said that the movement took note of the of various Wike’s attacks on the various leaders of the coalition movement in his media chat on Thursday.

He said that Wike’s attack was because of his fear of the threat that the successful unveiling of the coalition of opposition political parties constituted to the government that he serves.

Abdullahi said that if Wike and the ruling party had had kept their promises to the Nigerian people, the coalition movement would not have been necessary and he would not have had a need to be afraid.

He noted that that Wike claimed in his media chat that the coalition leaders were driven only by grievances.

Abdullahi said they were grieved over numbers of Nigerians in poverty, the children of the poor in FCT who were unable to get education because their teachers’ salaries were not paid, and the level of insecurity in the the territory.

“But it is rather too late in the day to cry. The coalition movement belongs to the Nigerian people who had been promised renewed hope, but have been served renewed hopelessness.

“”Therefore, no amount of tirade against the leaders of the coalition could stem the tide of this movement,” Abdullahi said.
