The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has commiserated with the family, friends and associates of former President Muhammadu Buhari over his demise.

CAN President, Archbishop Daniel Okoh, said this in a statement in Abuja on Monday.

NAN reports that the former president died on Sunday in a London hospital after a prolong illness.

Okoh said that while his tenure as president was not without its challenges, Buhari served the nation with dedication and a deep sense of duty.

According to him, Buhari’s contributions to Nigeria’s development and his commitment to public service form a significant part of our national history.

“We join all Nigerians in mourning his loss, and we pray that the Almighty God grant his family and loved ones the strength to bear the loss.

“May his soul rest in eternal peace, “he said.

In a related development, Alhaji Bala Ibrahim, the Secretary to Jigawa State Government (SSG), also mourned former President Muhammadu Buhari, describing him as a gentleman and national father.

Ibrahim stated this while speaking with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Dutse on Monday.

The SSG described Buhari as a true statesman who dedicated his life to the progress and unity of Nigeria.

He said that the former president served the nation with firm resolve.

“We’ve really lost the psyche and conscious of our nation, may Almighty Allah forgive his shortcomings and grant him the highest place in Jannatul Firdaus,” Ibrahim said.

Also, Mr Najib Falalu, the Chairman of Buji Local Government Council, described the death of the former president as great lost not only to his family, but to Nigeria in general.

Falalu said Buhari would be remembered by Nigerians for his enduring legacy in the nation’s democratic journey and dedication to service, as well as his commitment to national development.

“We pray that the Almighty Allah grants his soul eternal rest and gives his family and Nigerians the fortitude to bear the loss.

“May Allah forgive all his shortcomings,” the chairman prayed.

NAN reports that Buhari was a military Head of State from 1984 to 1985 and later a democratically elected President between 2015 and 2023. (NAN)
