The First Rotech Group of Companies Ltd., has tasked media practitioners and social media influencers on fair hearing and proper verification before publications.

The Chairman of the group, Chief Augustine Oguejiofor made the call in a statement on Sunday in Abuja while refuting allegation of fraud peddled against the company on social media over a land case between the company and a client.

Oguejiofor described the claims as false, malicious and part of a coordinated campaign to damage his reputation and that of the group.

He explained that the matter between the company and a client known as Mr Ifeanyi Udezu is case of a failed business.

The chairman alleged that the client could not make full payment for a piece of land after several delays and deadline extension which led to the collapse of the transaction.

According to the chairman, both parties had earlier agreed that the company refunds payments earlier made following the failed transaction.

“Despite this development, to the company’s surprise, the same matter was later taken to social media platforms where misleading narratives were presented to the public.

“The organisation remains committed to honouring the agreement and resolving the matter amicably but the allegations of fraud being circulated online are baseless and amount to a deliberate attempt to blackmail and defame the organisation.

“We condemned the growing trend of trial by social media as unverified allegations and viral accusations could inflict serious reputational damage on individuals and businesses.

“We condemn the role of online influencers in amplifying claims without verifying facts or seeking the perspective of the other party involved; such conduct undermines fairness and responsible public discourse,” he said.

He demanded an immediate retraction of the allegations, a public apology by the client and the removal of all posts from social media by media practitioners and influencers involved.

The chairman said that failure to comply with the demands would compel the company to pursue legal action to protect the reputation and interests of the company.

“While reaffirming our willingness to resolve the issue through lawful and civil means, we urged the public to disregard the viral allegations and await the proper resolution of the matter through established legal processes.

“We remain committed to transparency, integrity and the rule of law and we will take all necessary steps to defend the reputation and the values upon which our organisation stands,” he said.
