A member of House of Representatives, Rep. Blessing Onuh, (APC-Benue), has called on Nigerians to shun actions capable of truncating societal tranquility ahead of the 2027 general elections.

In a statement to Mark her 50th birthday, Onuh, who is the House Committee Chairman on Land Transport, stressed the need for Nigerians to remain their brothers’ keepers, embrace hard work and discipline for speedy development.

Onuh, representing Otukpo/Ohimini Federal Constituency of Benue, tasked constituents and all Nigerians on surveillance and swift report of suspicious movements to security agencies.

The lawmaker, who is the All Progressives Congress (APC) 2027 candidate for the constituency seat, said that Nigerians must unite in love to defeat insecurity in the country.

She urged government agencies, corporate organisations and well-meaning Nigerians to implement programmes that would foster unity and attract foreign investments in the country.

The lawmaker said that she introduced football tournaments to unite youths in and around her constituency.

According to her, the football matches have enhanced unity,  peace and harmony within her constituency.

“There are 23 wards in my constituency, Otukpo/Ohimini Federal Constituency, all of them were involved in the football tournament.

“At the end, the winner emerged and special prizes were given to the winner, runner up and the third position, while certain amount of money was given to all the participants from all the wards.

“Interestingly, investors from England have selected nine of these footballers who participated in this tournament for trial

“Though it is not an easy task, I did this to promote unity,  peace and harmony not only in my constituency but in Benue and beyond,” she said.(NAN) (www.nannews.ng)
