High Chief Government Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo, has launched the PBAT Door-to-Door Movement in Katsina to mobilise grassroots support for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election.
Tompolo, founder and convener of the movement, chose Katsina as the first northern state for the initiative’s launch at the weekend.
The launch culminated in the inauguration of 34 local government coordinators and presentation of 34 campaign vehicles to them at the People’s Square, Katsina.
Represented by High Chief Kestin Ebimorbowei Pondi, Tompolo said the relationship between Tinubu and Katsina was founded on trust, confidence and inclusion.
He urged members of the movement to take the message of Tinubu’s administration to wards, communities, markets and households through door-to-door engagements.
“Katsina is the first state in the North where we are launching this movement, and we expect the message to reach every household,” Pondi said on his behalf.
The Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umar Radda, assured Tinubu of the state’s support for his re-election in the 2027 presidential election.
Radda described Katsina as a stronghold of the All Progressives Congress (APC), saying all elected political office holders in the state belonged to the party.
“Katsina State is an APC state. Every elected person in Katsina State is a member of the All Progressives Congress,” he said.
The governor said Katsina had a special attachment to Tinubu, linking the relationship to longstanding ties between the president and prominent northern political leaders.
He recalled Tinubu’s role in the political process that culminated in the emergence of the late President Muhammadu Buhari in 2015.
Radda commended Tompolo for choosing Katsina as the first northern state to launch the movement.
He said the development was significant, given the historical relationship between northern Nigeria and the Niger Delta.
The governor cited the late President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua’s Presidential Amnesty Programme as an example of cooperation between the two regions that promoted peace and development.
Also speaking, Tukur Ahmed Jikamshi, former deputy governor and state coordinator of the Renewed Hope movement, described Katsina as historically significant to Nigeria’s political development.
Jikamshi said the APC remained united across the state’s 361 wards and 34 local government areas.
He assured that the movement would intensify grassroots mobilisation across the state ahead of the 2027 general elections.
