The Nasarawa State House of Assembly, has urged the management of the Ministry of Works and Housing to ensure provision of quality roads in the state.
The Chairman, House Committee on Works and Housing, Hon. Suleiman Yakubu Azara made the call while assessing the budget performance of the Ministry and others for the second quarter of 2026 today in Lafia.
It would be reported that Nasarawa State Electricity Board (NASEB), Nasarawa State Fire Service, Nasarawa State Motor Vehicle Administration and Traffic Management Agency appeared before the committee on their budget performance for the second quarter of 2026.
The lawmaker expressed worry over the slow pace of work in some ongoing rural road construction in the state.
He urged the Ministry to ensure that Contractors handling those projects are mobilized and go back to their various sites.
The Majority Leader charged the ministry to work closely with the contractors and ensure strict supervision in compliance with the contract specifications.
” You are to ensure that standard work are done according to their specifications,” he said.
Also, the Committee hosted the management of NASEB where the Committee chairman, Hon Suleiman Yakubu Azara, appreciated them for providing electricity to the people of the state.
He assured them of the committee’s support to succeed.
Furthermore, the management of the Nasarawa State Fire Service Agency and Nasarawa State Motor Vehicle Administration and Traffic Management Agency appeared before the committee where the committee chairman commended them for good performance in the second quarter.
He urged them to put more effort for quality service delivery.
Hon Azara pledged to synergize with the managements to overcome challenges of manpower, operational vehicles, funds approval and releases that affect smooth operation of their organizations.
Earlier, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Works and Housing, Mr Ahmad Abdullahi, Managing Director, Nasarawa State Electricity Board, Engineer Yakubu Suleiman, General Manager, Nasarawa State Motor Vehicle Administration and Traffic Management Agency, Mr Victor Jerry appreciated the committee and the assembly for its support to them.
They solicited for more support to enable them succeed .
They, however, enumerated their challenges to includes shortages of manpower, operational vehicles, insufficient funds, lack of approval and releases and sought for the assembly’s support to address their challenges.
