Serving and retired senior military officers on Saturday gathered in Kano to celebrate the wedding Fatiha of two daughters of Maj.-Gen. Samaila Uba, the Director of Defence Information.
The ceremony, held at Alfurqan Mosque, Alu Avenue, Nasarawa GRA, attracted senior officers from the Army, Navy and Air Force.
The Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Olufemi Oluyede, and Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Waidi Shaibu, were represented at the ceremony.
Oluyede was represented by the Director of Training, Maj.-Gen. Shuaibu Nuhu, while the COAS was represented by the Commander, 3 Brigade, Brig.-Gen. S.A. Jimoh.
The Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Adm. Idi Abbas, and Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Aneke, were also represented.
Abbas was represented by the Head of the Logistics College, Kano, Commodore Abubakar Madawaki, while Aneke was represented by AVM N.B. Folaji.
Also present was retired Brig.-Gen. Sani Kukasheka Usman, a former Director, Army Public Relations, alongside other serving and retired senior military officers.
The first daughter, Sadiya Samaila Uba, was joined in marriage with Abdulhamid Magaji Bako, while Dr Aisha Samaila Uba married Dr Ibrahim Ali Umar.
Uba expressed gratitude to Allah for giving him the opportunity to witness the marriage of his two daughters.
“I’m very happy to witness today, which is the occasion of Wedding Fatiha for my two daughters.
“I give thanks to Allah for sparing my life to witness this day,” he said.
The Kano-born general also appreciated his bosses, mentors, colleagues and junior officers for honouring the occasion.
“May Allah continue to bestow more goodness upon everyone of us,” he said.
Earlier, the Chief Imam of Alfurqan Mosque offered prayers for the families of Uba, the late Magajin Rafin Ringim and Alhaji Bako Babura.
The celebration continued at Ten to Ten Restaurant, Kano, where family members, friends and military colleagues joined the newly-wedded couples in celebrating the occasion
