Participants of the Army War College Nigeria (AWCN) Course 8/2024 have been engaged with operational commanders of Operation Hadin Kai in the North East theatre of operation as part of the Operational Art and Campaigning Module of the course.
This is contained in a statement by the College Public Relations Officer, Maj. Hashimu Abdullahi, on Friday in Abuja.
Abdullahi said the tour aimed to provide participants with firsthand exposure to contemporary security challenges addressed by the Nigerian Army.
He said the visit to the Headquarters Theatre Command Operation Hadin Kai in Maiduguri, scheduled from August 28 to September 1, was a crucial step towards enhancing operational readiness.
According to him, Deputy Theatre Commander, Maj.-Gen. Kenneth Chigbu, received the AWCN delegation on behalf of Theatre Commander, Maj.-Gen. Waidi Shaibu.
Chigbu, addressing the participants, commended the college for shaping future military leaders and highlighted the professional excellence demonstrated by officers posted to the theatre from the College.
He acknowledged the significant impact of strategic papers developed by the institution and noted the theatre’s successes, including the surrender of numerous Boko Haram fighters.
In his response, Commandant of AWCN, Maj.-Gen. Ishaya Maina, expressed gratitude for the warm reception and urged participants to maximise the learning opportunity by identifying operational gaps to drive the mission’s success.
The visit featured detailed briefings on intelligence, operations, and sector-specific strategies, offering participants a comprehensive overview of the theatre’s operations.(NAN) (
